Your mission : The River Ecosystems Laboratory at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland is seeking one postdoctoral research associate to work on the global glacier-fed stream microbiome. Over the last four years, in the context of the Vanishing Glaciers project, we were able to collect microbial and environmental data from 170 glacier-fed streams around the world. Unique data from 16S rRNA and 18 rRNA sequencing, massive shotgun metagenomics, process rate measurements, physicochemical characterization of the streams, and GIS-based analyses of their glaciers are now available to further explore the fascinating life of prokaryotes, eukaryotes and viruses in the streams that drain the roof of our planet.
